Big Brothers Big Sisters of Otero County has been serving our community since 1989 by matching youth with carefully screened volunteers.  The resulting friendship brings magic into the lives of both the volunteer and the child, and is fun for both the Big and the Little.  Big Brothers Big Sisters offers two programs: the community based program and our school based program, S.T.A.R.S.  Both programs require a minimum of a four hour a month commitment...most people can find that much time to make a difference in the life of a child and in their community!

In our own lives, each of us was touched by someone - other than our parents - who introduced us to new worlds and brought a little magic into our lives.  By becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister, you can do the same for a child. And you will both be forever changed by the experience.

You can be the person to take a child to his first Tigers game...or watch his eyes light up at the sight of snow when you're sledding in the mountains!  You can help your Little Sister plant flowers...then share the excitement as you both watch them bloom! Do YOU have a desire to fly a kite, or play with remote control cars, or have a tea party, or play on the playground? Together you and your Little choose activities that you both enjoy!
